Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th August 2026: Public response to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal CorporationтАЩs (PCMC) hearings on objections and suggestions to the Draft Development Plan (DP) has remained subdued, with only 123 citizens attending the hearing despite notices being issued to around 2,500 objectors.
The hearings on nearly 56,779 objections and suggestions received on the revised Draft Development Plan began on August 3 at G.D. Madgulkar Auditorium in Akurdi.
On the second day of hearings, which covered reservations in the Pimpri area, the Special Planning Department claimed that notices had been sent to around 2,500 citizens through mobile messages, email and post. However, only 123 people turned up to present their objections. On the first day, around 220 citizens had attended.
Officials said the highest number of objections in the Pimpri area relate to the proposed reservations for a police station, bus terminal and municipal purpose on land near the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue at Pimpri Chowk, adjacent to Bhimsrushti. Citizens who attended the hearing demanded that these reservations be scrapped.
The civic administration said those who received notices but could not attend, or arrived late, would be given another opportunity to present their objections on the last day of hearings on August 14.
After hearings in each planning sector are completed, all objectors who remain absent despite receiving notices will be given a final opportunity to present their case before the hearing process concludes.
