Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th November 2026: Deputy chief minister and Pune district guardian minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar inaugurated the railway overbridge at Pimpri Dairy Farm and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal CorporationтАЩs (PCMC) тАШLтАЩ ward office.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of mayor Ravi Landge and attended by MLAs Uma Khapre and Amit Gorkhe, deputy mayor Sharmila Babar, former mayor Yogesh Behl and municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi.
Built at an accepted tender cost of around Rs65.28 crore, the 565-metre-long and 17.2-metre-wide overbridge will enable the permanent closure of railway crossing No. 60 on the Mumbai-Pune railway route.

The project comprises a 240-metre-long viaduct, a 45-metre-long viaduct over the railway tracks, a 135-metre approach road on the Dapodi-Nigdi side and a 145-metre approach road on the Pimpri side. The bridge also has a dedicated footpath for pedestrians.
The overbridge will allow commuters travelling from the Dapodi-Nigdi road towards Pimpri village to cross the railway line without waiting for trains to pass.
It will also provide residents of Pimpri, Pimple Saudagar and Rahatani with a shorter route to the Dapodi-Nigdi road and Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro station. The new connectivity is expected to ease traffic congestion on the Indira Gandhi bridge via Shagun Chowk and help commuters save travel time, fuel and effort.
