Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th August 2026: Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Ravi Landge has extended financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the nine people who died in the Moshi garbage depot accident.
Landge decided against celebrating his birthday this year and instead provided a total of Rs 9 lakh to the bereaved families through the Late Ankushrao Landge Pratishthan.
The Moshi accident had shocked Pimpri-Chinchwad, leaving several families without their primary breadwinners. Against this backdrop, Landge said standing by families affected by the tragedy was more important than celebrating his birthday.
Financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each was provided to the families of Bhavesh Vani, Akshay Sawant, Sunil Korke, Sunny Mane, Mahesh Kumbhar, Nagesh Gaikwad, Ranjit Patil, Rahul Gaikwad and Vaman Kasbe. Cheques were handed over to the victimsтАЩ family members during a press conference.
Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, corporator Yogita Nagargoje, Rahul Landge and members of the affected families were present on the occasion.
Landge said no financial assistance could compensate for the loss of a loved one, but providing emotional and financial support to families during such a difficult period was a collective social responsibility.
