Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th August 2026: Efforts to resolve long-pending defence-related issues in Pimpri Chinchwad gained momentum on Friday, with Mayor Ravi Landge holding talks with senior Defence Department officials at Khadki Headquarters.
The meeting followed LandgeтАЩs recent meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where he raised issues affecting the cityтАЩs development.
Key issues discussed included reducing the red-zone area and lifting restrictions wherever possible, securing Defence Department land near Hotel Kalasagar for a waste-processing project, and obtaining land for a new fire station in Pimple Saudagar.
Officials also discussed removing red-zone restrictions around Magazine Chowk following the relocation of the ammunition depot. The move is expected to benefit several properties and development projects that have remained affected by the restrictions for years.
Landge said the discussions were positive and expressed confidence that the issues would move towards concrete decisions.
тАЬThousands of citizens are affected by these long-pending issues. We will continue coordinating with the Defence Ministry and civic authorities to ensure these matters do not remain limited to discussions and that citizens receive tangible relief,тАЭ he said.
Town Planning Deputy Director Lalit Khobragade, Assistant Director Sandesh Khadtare, Khadki Headquarters PRO Kiran Pawar and officials from the Defence Department and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation attended the meeting.
