Ravet, 30th April 2026: Mounting frustration over repeated electricity disruptions has prompted residents of Ravet and Kiwale to approach the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), seeking urgent intervention to stabilise power supply in the rapidly expanding suburbs.
A delegation of residents, along with local corporator Aishwarya Taras, met MSEDCL officials on Wednesday, highlighting the sharp rise in outages over recent weeks. With temperatures soaring, residents said the frequent interruptions have become increasingly difficult to manage.
Locals pointed out that while occasional power cuts were common earlier, the situation has deteriorated significantly in the past month. тАЬThere are at least four outages daily. It has become unbearable as temperature is already breaking all the records in the cityтАЭ a resident said. He added that delays in restoration appear to be linked to inadequate staffing.
Another resident, Manoj Sharma, said erratic voltage has added to the problem. тАЬFluctuations are as damaging as power cuts. There is a risk to appliances, and there is no prior notice or response when we try to contact officials,тАЭ he said.

In a formal complaint submitted to MSEDCL, Taras flagged manpower shortages at substations, stating that limited staff was slowing down fault rectification and grievance handling. She warned that if the issue is not addressed, residents may escalate their protest.
MSEDCL officials, however, denied any scheduled load-shedding, stating that outages were fault-related and being attended to promptly. Assistant engineer Ratnadeep Kale said systems like back-feeding are being used to reduce downtime, while also noting that power demand has surged during the summer, partly due to increased dependence on electricity.
