Pune, 17th April 2026 : Hadapsar Railway Station and Chinchwad Railway Station are set to receive direct connectivity to the Pune Metro network, according to metro officials, in a move aimed at improving multimodal transport integration across the city.
Officials indicated that while the connectivity has been proposed, the exact mode whether through skywalks or foot overbridges (FOBs) is yet to be finalised. The decision will be taken after alignment surveys and consultations with railway authorities.
The official Pune Metro route map reflects these proposed integrations. Hadapsar Metro Station is shown on the planned Line 4 corridor connecting Khadakwasla to Kharadi, indicating direct linkage with Hadapsar Railway Station. Similarly, the Chinchwad Metro Station on the PCMC to Nigdi (Bhakti Shakti) route is planned to connect with Chinchwad Railway Station.
Pune Division railway authorities said no formal communication has yet been received from the Railway Board or headquarters regarding the proposed integration.
Meanwhile, infrastructure upgrades at Hadapsar Railway Station are underway. The Railway Board has sanctioned the development of a fourth platform at the station, strengthening its role as a satellite terminal for Pune. Work on the new platform has commenced, and plans for an additional entry and exit point from the platform 4 side are under discussion.

Hadapsar station had earlier been developed as a satellite terminal with an investment of nearly тВ╣100 crore to reduce congestion at Pune Junction. However, platform capacity had remained largely unchanged until the recent approval.
Officials stated that Hadapsar Railway Station currently records an average monthly footfall of over 1.5 lakh passengers, which is projected to rise to 4тАУ5 lakh per month over the next two years amid ongoing infrastructure expansion. Chinchwad Railway Station, meanwhile, handles an average monthly footfall of around 3 lakh passengers.
Railway authorities also stated that coordination is ongoing with the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited to improve last-mile connectivity and passenger convenience.
At present, key railway stations in Pune already connected to the metro network include Pune Junction, Shivajinagar Railway Station, and Khadki Railway Station, with access facilitated through skywalks and FOBs. Shivajinagar station also integrates with a major PMPML bus hub, enabling multimodal transit options.
