Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th March 2026: In a significant push towards sustainable energy, a 120-kilowatt rooftop solar power project has been commissioned at Pristine Prolife Phase 3 society in Wakad. The project is expected to reduce the society’s monthly electricity bill by approximately ₹2.30 lakh.
The solar project was inaugurated on March 1, 2026, by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation corporator Rahul Tanaji Kalate. Notably, all approvals and procedures from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) were completed within four months, an unusually swift timeline for such projects.
The project has been set up at a total cost of around ₹76 lakh. Of this, the society received a government subsidy of ₹21.67 lakh, while the remaining amount was contributed by residents, who paid ₹7,000 each towards the initiative.
With the commissioning of the 120 kW system, the society is projected to save nearly ₹2.30 lakh per month on electricity expenses, significantly reducing its financial burden. The initiative is expected to offer long-term economic benefits while promoting environmentally sustainable energy use.
Speaking at the inauguration, corporator Rahul Kalate praised the society members for their collective effort. He said the project reflects the effective combination of public participation, transparency in government processes, and timely execution. “The initiative undertaken by the members of Pristine Prolife Phase 3 is commendable. With government support and adherence to timelines, the project has taken shape within just four months. It can serve as a role model for other societies across the city,” he said. He added that green energy is the future and maintaining environmental balance alongside urban development is a shared responsibility.
Society secretary Swarup Patil said the project would substantially cut electricity expenses and encourage the use of eco-friendly, sustainable energy. Society president Alkesh Charpe stated that all apartment owners were consulted and informed about the long-term benefits of the project, which helped secure unanimous support and financial contributions from members.
The event was attended by corporator Rahul Kalate, society president Alkesh Charpe, secretary Swarup Patil, treasurer Arvind, Anurag Shirode, Bhivaji Suryavanshi, Shridhar Gharpure, Prashant Gore, Anurag Tiwari, and several other residents. The project was successfully completed through the consistent efforts of the society committee and active cooperation from members.
